Updates and New Winter Routes
A common refrain for climbing guidebooks is that they are “out of date as soon as they come out”, and Winter Cragging in the Canadian Rockies is no different. Since the books came out in November 2022, there has been continuing development at several of the 14 crags listed. In an effort to keep abreast of new developments, I have started adding recent new route information to the Updates section of the Frozen Limestone Publications website.
This relies on new routes being reported - either on social media or directly to us here at Frozen Limestone Publications. So if you have a new route at one of the crags listed in the book, please reach out!
Since the Gravsports forum shut down several years ago, the Rockies has also been missing a centralized repository of new route information. While many new routes are reported on social media (either groups such as Rockies Ice & Mixed Conditions or personal feeds), the nature of the medium is that much of this new route information is harder to access. In an effort to address this, we have also started to host new route information for areas outside the scope of the Winter Cragging guidebook. This includes both cragging routes for crags not included in the guide, but also new multipitch and winter alpine routes.
If you have a new route and want to submit it to be hosted here, again please get in touch either via the link below or with Nick via social media:
